A bridal makeup trial is the perfect opportunity to test the makeup look you have envisioned for your very special day. It is perhaps the first moment where you can truly see yourself as a bride. This session is also a great chance to meet your makeup artist and have a discussion about what we can do to get your skin glowing and wedding ready. Below are some of my tips to make the most of your bridal makeup trial.
Take time to think about your complete bridal look. When I ask brides how they imagine themselves on their wedding day, the most common feedback I get is – I want to look like myself, but better! My goal is for you to feel like the best version of yourself with some confidence. Having an idea of what you want your makeup to look like helps me to understand whats most important to you. Consider how you wear makeup everyday. Take a look at my website or instagram portfolio, as this is the best place to see if my work aligns with you.
After browsing, choose 2 – 3 images that boost your vision. Let me know what stands out to you in those photos, whether it is the lip shade, the skin or lashes. This feedback helps me tailor your look to work with your preferences. Also, be mindful to choose images that reflect similar features to yours, including skin tone and hair colour. Have these images ready to show on the day of your bridal makeup trial appointment.
During the trial, communication is key. Please, do not hesitate to share what you like or if something doesn’t feel quite right. I want you to love your makeup, and I will always offer my professional insight on what suits your features best. Tweaks are a normal part of the process, so feel free to ask. Whether it is adjusting lash length, softening the eyes, or more coverage, its all about getting as close as possible to your perfection. I promise, I am happy to make changes, so don’t worry about hurting feelings.
Wedding planning can be stressful, but your makeup trial should be a relaxing, enjoyable experience. Take this time to unwind and enjoy the pampering as you prepare for your special day.
A few extra tips to keep in mind:
Skin. Your makeup will look its best if your skin is in the best shape. A good skincare routine, regular facials, and drinking plenty of water will make a really big difference in your skin and the makeup application.
Wear your Look. After the trial, wear the makeup look for the day if possible. This is the perfect way to see how the makeup wears on your skin. Let me know if you notice any shine or changes, as this helps us plan for any adjustments needed for the big day.
Tanning. If you are considering tanning for your wedding day, I would also recommend to tan for your bridal trial as this will give an accurate representation of the makeup look with your skin tone and the colours we use.
Go Solo. Bringing others to your trial might seem fun, but too many opinions can be overwhelming. It’s important to focus on how you feel about the look. If you need to bring someone, ensure they don’t overshadow your preferences.
Details. I would really recommend having your hair trial on the same day to give you the complete vision all together. Wear a white top or dress, along with bringing your wedding jewellery to have everything come to life.
